The Dogs

Ella and Levi

This isn’t the best picture, but it was raining outside and I didn’t want to use my camera much. These are two of the search and rescue dogs that I know. Ella is older, but works pretty well. I get along really well with her handler, who is a blast, and I think is training another search dog soon.

Levi (Danelle Landis‘s dog) is young, and has sooo much energy. He is always on the go. We love the insane amounts of energy that he has though, because that is what we look for, right next to his retrieve drive. He will do ANYTHING for a stick or his Kong toy.

Levi was a rescue from a Spokane animal shelter. He was placed in there twice and had reports of tearing up walls, floors, couches. (I mean holes and destruction.) The energy that Danelle saw was ideal, and he had (certainly still has) an amazing motivation for fetching. All of those undesirable behaviors that were seen before have completely disappeared, though we wouldn’t want to see him after a day or two of not walking. XD

So, three of us, two search and rescue dogs, and another dog, walked around on memorial day. We were doing some compass training (for me) and afterwards walk around. At one point we thought about how funny it would be to get lost, being we had the dogs that find the lost. 🙂

There will be more training next week. We will do some hide and seek work!

Thank you for reading.
